DESCRIPTION

Emi Koussi is the highest mountain in the Sahara Desert, at an elevation of 3445 meters. At its peak are two nested calderas. Around its flanks are cinder cones and lava domes, which are prominent in this image. This is the second of two images from the Tibesti Mountains (see yesterday's image for the first).
