DESCRIPTION

This image is located in the far western portion of the Hindu Kush near the border between Herat and Farah Provinces. The area has undergone substantial deformation associated with the Indo-Eurasian collision. Most of the rocks in this image are Cretaceous and lesser Jurassic clastic sedimentary rocks. The prominent blue and green triangular structure is composed of Olligocene Andesitic volcanic and clastic sedimentary rocks that have been folded and faulted at the boundary between two fault zones with different trends.
