Neuquen Basin, Argentina
DESCRIPTION
The Neuquen Basin is located in central Argentina. The geological basin is one of the most developed shale plays in the world, producing both natural gas and crude oil from the Jurrassic-Cretaceous rocks. The network of dots and lines in this image constitutes the drilling, extraction, and transportation infrastructure for the extensive hydrocarbon mining operations in the area. The Colorado River (green) passes by the city of Rincon de Los Sauces (lower-right of center).
