Mekong River Delta, Vietnam

The Mekong River is a major political and environmental structure in southeast Asia. It originates in the Tibetan Plateau and winds its way through the Indochinese Peninsula before dumping into the South China Sea. This image demonstrates the extreme fertility of soil in the floodplain of the river as well as the substantial infrastructure harnessing the water.
